The cooler months usually invite clearer waters within the Daintree as the occurrence of heavy rainfall decreases , allowing the salt water to ease its way further upstream on larger tides.
Popular species caught include great sporting fish such as permit, queenfish, trevally, and lovely table fish like mangrove jack, fingermark, javelin, and even tropical flathead. Junior fishers have a ball targeting bream species around the snags, and assisting Jamie with the mud crab traps. Crocodiles are also easily caught (with a camera of course) during these months, as they laze on the banks.
