Weather: The winds start to become more variable from September, with northerly breezes becoming more frequent, though a strong south easterly wind from a large high will restrict fishing to the Daintree river. In calm weather the days are similar to a temperate summer. Daytime temperatures average around 30 C. November and December starts to become quite tropical, with the build up to the Wet causing higher humidity and a very high UV index.
Light weight, full length clothing, hat and sun screen is highly recommended this time of year. Thunderstorms become more frequent, and any rain that falls during this period is welcome, if not to cool the air, but it refreshes the fishing action. Wet weather gear is provided by Jamie in the event of rain. December may see the first heavy rains fall, but it rarely negatively influences the fishing action. The official Cyclone season starts the 1st November, and ends at the end of April 30.
